Term and Conditions

Applies to: All online and in-person tuition services provided by Magalie Dale, Private Tutor (Newmarket, Suffolk)

1. Services Provided

I offer private tuition in:

  • Chemistry
  • French

Lessons are available:

  • In person (at the student’s home, tutor’s home or in public spaces such as libraries or cafés)
  • Online via Google Meet / Zoom / Skype / or other suitable online platforms)

Disclaimer of Academic Guarantee

I will do my best to support your child’s learning and help them prepare for exams. However, I cannot guarantee specific results or grades, as these depend on factors such as effort, attendance, and practice outside of our sessions. I cannot be held responsible for any exam outcome or academic result.

2. Fees

  • Lesson fees depend on the subject and level, and may change occasionally. Please get in touch to confirm the latest rates.

All lessons must be booked and paid in advance. Lesson times are only confirmed once payment has been received.

3. Booking & Cancellation Policy

  • Sessions must be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours’ notice.
  • Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged at the full lesson rate.
  • Failure to attend a scheduled lesson without notice (no-show) will also incur the full fee.
  • If I need to cancel a session, I will offer an alternative date or a full refund if applicable.
  • For block bookings, lessons can be rescheduled within the 3-month period but not refunded.

4. Online Lessons Policy

4.1. Platform & Requirements

  • Online lessons are conducted via Google Meet or other suitable platforms.
  • Students are responsible for ensuring a stable internet connection, working microphone and camera, and a quiet, distraction-free environment.

4.2. Missed Lessons

  • If a student does not join the session within 15 minutes and has not made contact, the session will be considered a no-show and charged in full.

4.3. Technical Issues

  • If issues arise on my side, the time will be made up or rescheduled at no cost.
  • If technical problems occur on the student’s side (e.g. poor internet connection, device issues, software not working), the session will still be charged in full and will not be rescheduled. In such cases, the lesson will end at the scheduled time, regardless of when the student is able to join.

4.4. Safeguarding

  • For students under 18:
    • Parental consent is required.
    • An adult should be present in the home during online and in person lessons unless agreed with the parent.
    • Lessons will not be recorded unless agreed in writing by the parent/guardian.

4.5. Conduct

  • Students should be dressed appropriately and participate from a suitable environment (e.g. not a bedroom where possible).
  • Recording or screenshotting lessons is not permitted without prior consent.

5. In-Person Lessons

  • In-person lessons are conducted at the student or tutor’s home, or in public spaces, such as local libraries or cafés.
  • The student or parent is responsible for any travel arrangements and associated costs.
  • Please arrive on time, as sessions cannot be extended to accommodate lateness.

6. Payments

  • Payment is due in advance
  • Accepted payment methods include bank transfer or PayPal.
  • Block bookings must be paid in full upfront and are non-refundable.

7. Age Requirement

I provide tuition to both adults and students under 18. However:

  • Anyone booking or paying for lessons must be 18 or over, or the parent/legal guardian of a student under 18.
  • For students under 18, parental consent is required, and a responsible adult must be present in the home during online or in person sessions (see Section 4.4 for safeguarding details).

8. Data Protection & Privacy

Your personal data is handled in accordance with my Privacy Policy, in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

I only collect and store information necessary to deliver tutoring services and do not share your data with third parties unless required by law.
